Make sure to keep away from any of those dodgy websites. A really bad security vulnerability, CVE-2011-3490 has started to be used by some pranksters and currently it taking an usually long time for any patches to be developed and is really starting to scare us at work a lot.
The image above is part of the problematic software we managed to contain. Unfortunately, we could only get this small amount of imagery from it as it is a real tough one.
Effects of this software is a video feed we can’t seem to trace down will appear randomly after various sounds have been played. It normally starts talking, but as soon as this happens it was able to kill any video recording software we tried. Also it appears to be able to kill any HDMI recording equipment, all of it.
All of our researchers working on this had mysteriously left the company. They also all muttered something, “what I really want”. Video footage taken shows the user falling back into a chair and just looking like they had 0 control over their body. We tried things like sounding the fire alarm and it just did nothing to phase these people.
The researchers who left were not contactable afterwards neither. Contacting any of their family members and police proved nothing, they just seemed to disappear. On a more personal note I was sure I recognised a couple of them on the way to the off-license one-evening but they were talking like typical yobs and drinking trashy lager.
