You’re cornered. You knew you shouldn’t have gone out when it was cold outside. Especially not around the train station on a rail replacement day. And two burly workers have you covered with no way out.
But you look at them.
The glow in their eyes. An orange band. A silver band. Then a black band. As you see each band grow and then another set. Your mind trying to catch up.
You feel almost as though the bands leave the eyes as gloves hands grab onto you. Their smile. Grinning in sync with each other, a big almost too big for reality. Like a cheshire cat.
You can just stare as you feel something. Movement but you can’t process it. You feel a warmth pushed down your arms and zipped up, and up your legs. And sealed on your feet.
Then you feel to your feet. Pushed to see in the mirror at the end of the platform. You look closely. There’s three burly workers, head to toe in hi-vis. Glowing eyes. Orange. Silver. Black. And all three grinning. All three safe.
